GREENSBORO, N.C. —Maria Perez’s fate isn’t clear right now.

The mother of three young girls has lived in the Alamance County for the past decade.

She’s often known as provider.

Perez also takes care of her elderly father who suffers from glaucoma.

Perez is set to be deported back to Mexico on December 27th ripping her away from  the family that loves her so much.

Perez turned to the North Carolina Dream Team for help.

The group which supports immigration rights held a rally outside of Senator Hagan’s office in Greensboro.

NC Dream Team member Santiago Garcia says they want the Senator to give them a letter of support and stop Perez’s deportation.

“Imagine these three young girls not growing up without a mother. I mean that would be awful,” Garcia said.

Perez’s troubles began on December 21 2010.

An Alamance County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped her after she was caught driving without a license.

Perez cannot get one legally because she is considered undocumented.

“This is the struggle we want Senator Hagan to know about. I mean there’s no legal option for her right now,” Garcia said.

Two members in Garcia’s group were arrested this evening for trespassing, but have since been released.

Senator Hagan was not in her office, but the group says she released a statement saying she does not get involved with individual cases.

In the meantime, the group has started a petition in support to stop Perez’s deportation.
