Asheboro, N.C.– The holiday shopping season frenzy is in full swing. It’s hard to miss an ad offering deep discounts just in time for Christmas.
But, the competition this year among merchants have some feeling the Cyber Monday blues.
Texas Jeans USA in Asheboro could be considered one of those.
The company which makes denim jeans from American products didn’t see the sales they thought they would today.
Operations Manager Fred Womer says as of Monday Afternoon around 450 orders were placed.
Last year on Cyber Monday Womer says sales were double.
“I think there was a lot of low prices on Thursday. You know a lot of people were just buying to hurry up and get it done,” Womer said.
According to a survey conducted for Shop.org by BIGinsight, 129.2 million Americans plan to shop on Cyber Monday this year, up from the 122.8 million who shopped last year, and the 106.9 million who shopped on Cyber Monday in 2010.
Eager to meet consumers’ demands, 85 percent of retailers will have a special promotion for Cyber Monday, according to a survey released last week.
Womer says Texas Jeans USA is featuring a new kind of jeans that have a inner pocket on the inside.
“They can be used for your cellphone, ID, you name it,” Womer said.
They retail for around $25.
Womer plans to keep the products at a discounted price throughout the holiday season.
