GREENSBORO, N.C.– Greensboro-based executive search firm Charles Aris has its sights set on a new location in downtown Greensboro.
The company, which recruits executives from Fortune 500 companies, plans to move in the old Jefferson-Pilot office building at the intersection of North Greene and Bellemeade Streets.
The plan is to convert the old abandoned building into a three-story, 24,000 square foot structure.
Greensboro City Council Member Zack Matheny feels it’s a win-win for the city.
“Let’s think about it. We haven’t had a crane downtown since the jail was built,” Matheny said.
The city is considering giving the company $200,000 for construction cost.
$100,000 will be in the form of a loan that the company will have to pay back over an 8 year period.
The other portion of the money will be in the form of a grant with strict guidelines.
Charles Aris will keep its 35 employees, and hire four additional full-time workers by the end of 2016.
If given the green light by city council, construction could begin by the end of year.
