GREENSBORO, N.C. — In an effort to deter crime, the City of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department have started using “flash cams.”
The cameras are used take still photos of people in Greensboro’s 190 parks after they close.
Chris Wilson with the Parks and Recreation Department said the city spent close to $100,000 cleaning up spray paint and graffiti.
“Since the cameras have gone up, the amount of money we spent cleaning up has been cut in half,” Wilson said.
The city has 12 flash cameras which can be rotated when needed.
Wilson says the camera helped catch a man who was spray-painting rocks at Bog Garden in Greensboro last month.
