LEXINGTON, N.C.–Davidson County District Attorney Garry Frank said no charges have been filed yet in a boating accident that killed a pregnant woman and her 3-year-old son Saturday afternoon on High Rock Lake, however, authorities are still investigating.

Investigators say 32-year-old Melissa Chambers Britt, and her son William Jaiden Britt were killed when a power boat driven by Michael Lyn Greene from Mcleasnville, hit their pontoon boat on High Rock Lake. Investigators believe Greene was not paying attention at the time. Investigators say alcohol was not a factor in this crash.

Britt was on the boat with her husband, William Clayton Britt Jr., and her brother Michael Chambers, when the accident happened. She was thrown overboard.

Rescue crews found her body a short time later. Michael Chambers was taken Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center with head injuries.

A spokesperson for the hospital told FOX8 that Chambers is in good condition.

Since the tragedy, the Britt family has received an overwhelming amount of prayers and support.

David-Allen Brown is the pastor at The Bridge Church in Kernersville where the Britt family attends mass every Sunday.

“To see them come to church, a day after a tragedy like this and receive the love and encouragement of their friends around them, it’s just God’s love,” Brown said.

A memorial will be held for Melissa and her son at The Bridge Church Saturday at 2 p.m.
